Born on a rainy, stormy midnight on 7th June in the scenic, romantic lush green Jabalpur, the Central Province of India, writer and romantic novelist Poonaam Uppal now lives in the City Beautiful Orlando, Florida in the United States. She is a Graduate in Bachelor of Arts and later she studied Fashion & Textile designing. Later she did her Fashion Illustration from Indiana, USA.
Fashion Designer by profession Poonaam Uppal had no intention to become an author but writing this mystical true love story was her spiritual responsibility, which was known to her by the higher forces in year 2003.After which, compelled by Maa Durga she had to quit her fashion business in the USA and pen down her True Love saga in her vacation home, Chennai at the 'Bay of Bengal'. Chennai is the same spot from where the final chapter in the history of mankind 'The End of the World' would begin. My Views:
This book was sent to me by @share_books for review. My first thought after seeing the book was - it's Huge! Reading 1084 pages and that too for reviewing it was a little difficult for me, considering the multi-tasking that I do. It took some time for me to finish reading this book. I have read huge books, series of such books but each one of them had something in them that kept me hooked/glued to the book. Frankly speaking, this book lacks the magnetism. May be the author could have split the book in two parts? But then, considering the topic and the way the book is written, it surely would have been difficult to decide where to split the book.
I also noticed that the publisher (or the author) has not categorized this book into any specific genre. It would be difficult (at least for me) to pick up the book from bookstores or online stores while browsing. I might have not come across this book had I not received it for reviewing. There is hardly any word about it on the internet. I personally feel the publisher should have promoted the book in a better manner. Yes, of course, all the material is available on author's site and the facebook page has 23,000 plus likes, but is it all that is about promoting a book?
You come across fortune-telling, occult, hypnotherapy, lust, romance and more in this one book.
The author says in introduction that “A Passionaate Gospel of True Love” is an Esoteric True Love story of divine love. How in this jet age, two modern human beings discovered sacred love and this story is their progress from human to divine. “A Passionaate Gospel of True Love” will teach human how to make love holy and create “Holy Kama Sutra”. In this Black Age, sex act could become the means to salvation and the ritual of love making alone could reach human to the ultimate state of Nirvana. In this divine ritual, man is a worshiper and woman is his deity. The consummate union between the worshiper and the goddess creates “Holy Kama Sutra”. Hence, the act of sex is the holiest of all acts.
The flow of narration is okay, could have been edited in a better way, but considering what the author says in the introduction, one can try to ignore that part. I must admit that the first person narration is well handled. The explanation of connection between the souls, mention of rebirth has enough depth to realize that the author has done a lot of research on the topic. Personally for me, however, the book lacks emotional depth, the kind that I would love to feel and visualize if I am reading about love, passion and romance. I felt the title of the book is a little mis-guiding, at least for me.
Overall, the book failed to touch a deep chord in me. I consider it just fine for one time read if you can read a 1084 pages book. My personal opinion, it is not a book one can carry around to read while traveling. I would end by saying that different people have different tastes, what I have mentioned here is my personal and honest opinion. There might be someone out there who would thoroughly enjoy the book. In the end it all depends on the reader, his/her personal taste.
