Niraj Satnalika is currently associated with a leading investment bank based out of Banglore. Previously he has worked with CRISIL. Prior to foray in the world of corporate, Niraj completed MBA in Finance from IMT Ghaziabad post B.Tech from Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata. Apart from monotonous corporate world, Niraj is also pursing PhD from IIT Bombay and has numerous research publications to his credit.In his pass-time, Niraj manages the work of his non-profit NGO which works to help underprivileged children get access to education. Being closely attached with education, Niraj also co-founded a start-up in education space. Niraj is fond of playing guitar, and squash and enjoys gardening and cooking in his free time.
My Views:
After reading the blurb (mentioned above), I was a little skeptical before saying yes to the publisher. Finally, I decided to give it a try and agreed to review. Once I started to read I could not put it down, not because it is gripping and un-put-downable; only because it is a simple, quick and interesting read.
You can categorize this book into one of those, which you carry with you while traveling short distance. Enough to keep you occupied but not too complex to give you a headache.
The language is simple and the story is narrated in first person.
"I, Rohan Nanda aka Ron, am a regular twenty-five year old, Indian male reasonably fair, slim with a good physique.
I have an increasingly evidently corporate paunch. If you have visited Mumbai and encountered a person with above description wearing a ready to use 'cosmetic' smile and with an attempt to display 'a pleasing personality', it is possible that you met a person in Sales.
I do what most people post MBA do i.e., Sales.
It is 8:30 AM and I am standing at the bus stop ..."
The first paragraph in Prologue gives rough idea how the book would progress.
The book is divided into four parts, sort-of stages of the protagonists' life. These small parts have smaller chapters in them. It is a good idea to divide the book in parts when you are writing a huge novel and/or writing story from different perspectives, I wonder why the author felt it necessary to do this to a 120 page book.
Some overly-sensitive people might take offense to some points in the book and maybe that is the reason the author has addressed 'sales force' on the dedication page.
This is a lighthearted book and needs to be read that way, without trying to read too much into it.
Author has done justice to character description. The story flow is good and easy. The description of the sex scene in the book is a bit intense as compared to rest of the book, but no injustice there. It is well-written.
The use of Hindi words could have been avoided.
Overall, I liked the book for its easy and quick story-flow. I would have perhaps not missed much had I not read this book but I do not regret reading it.
I would recommend it to those who enjoy reading lighthearted books.
